The following note applies to line 18:
'Enumerator drew a line from either Line 10 or 11 down to & including, Line 18. At Line 14 scribe entered the word "Family" which seems to signify all on these lines were related.' |
In household 100, the enumerator wrote the surname as 'Cobbage', a suggested alternative surname is 'Cuppage'. The person suggesting the alternative surname provided this comment: '1881 Census shows Adam CUPPAGE with parents & siblings in Matchedash & Orillia, Simcoe North, Ontario,Dist 139 SubDist N Page 21 Family 99.'.
In household 100, the enumerator wrote the surname as 'Right', a suggested alternative surname is 'Wright'. The person suggesting the alternative surname provided this comment: 'Enumerator seems to have entered this suname phonetically.'.
Field correction notes are suggested changes offered by a proofreader or user, they should not be considered authoritative. If the transcriber agrees with the suggestion they will change the line. Notes for changes that have been made are removed periodically. The presence of an uncorrected note is an extra prompt to the user to consult the image. It is always good practice to confirm the accuracy of the transcription by consulting the image.
